This scholarship has been established in memory of Joanne Frances (Eppard) Prien by her husband John D. Prien, Jr., PE, JD, a Life Member of GEF, to preserve her long standing desire to aid the education of young people. She was a Life Member of a highly-regarded women’s organization, P E O, (Philanthropic Educational Organization) that was founded in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa in 1869 by five college girls who wanted to create an entirely different sorority, one based principally on educating young women. Joanne was also a Past President of the Auxiliary to the National Society of Professional Engineers and was most proud of the fact that her father, her husband and her son, are all Engineers!
