The Georgia Power Engineering Association (GPEA), was founded in 1956 and is the professional society of active and retired engineers employed by Georgia Power Company and Southern Company Services. The objective of the organization is to provide a medium for the exchange of technical information related to the Company’s engineering activities and is open to all engineering disciplines. GPEA is responsible for the selection of Georgia Power’s “Engineer of the Year” as well as “Lifetime Achievement” recipient. As a member and proponent of the Foundation, GPEA has sponsored a GEF scholarship every year since 1980.
