ACEC Georgia is an association of over 200 private sector engineering firms with total employment of approximately 6,000 people in Georgia. While other societies represent the technical/professional interests of engineering disciplines, the primary focus of ACEC Georgia is the business interests of its member firms. ACEC Georgia is actively engaged in educational programs, legislative advocacy, and creating a business environment that allows member firms to prosper. The ACEC Georgia scholarship was originally established to honor the second President of the organization. Over the years many generous gifts by consulting engineers have been made to endow these scholarships. Mr. Peter Giles founded the scholarship and served as the Chair of the Trustees for many years. Most of the assets in the endowment are due to his generosity, including a $50,000 bequest at the time of his death in the year 2000. Scholarship recipients for the ACEC Georgia scholarships need to have been employed in an ACEC Georgia member firm within the previous year.
