Patrick Bates (patrick.bates@gcpsk12.org)

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to recommend that Alex Garcia receive The Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. Alex was in my AP United States Government and Politics class during the 2019-2020 school year. He is an outstanding student, dedicated to his studies and willing to go the extra mile. Alex was always attentive in class and was never afraid to ask questions. You could tell that he wanted to do more than just get a good grade; he truly wanted to understand the material. He was always diligent about preparing for upcoming exams, sometimes coming in during his lunch or dropping in after school to ask questions about the material. He took a great interest in politics and government, to such an extent that he worked to complete all of the requirements necessary to earn Georgia's Civic Engagement Diploma Sea. Alex is also dedicated to his community and extracurricular activities. He participated in band in high school, was heavily involved in his church and their service projects, and participated in other community service clubs while at our school. In many of these ventures, he served in leadership positions. He is a special young man with a kind heart, humble personality, and sharp mind. It is with pleasure that I write to recommend Alex for this scholarship. Sincerely, Mr. Patrick Bates AP U.S. Government & Politics CP/Honors American Government & Civics Government Course Team Lead Gwinnett County Deputy Registrar Mountain View High School patrick.bates@gcpsk12.org
