Dear Selection Committee, I am privileged to write in support of Caroline Hartner. I have taught Caroline through her Engineering pathway at North Oconee High School during which time I have witnessed her tremendous growth and development in engineering. This development came not only in the area of engineering design, but in leadership and character as well. Caroline has a passion to connect with our local community members in any capacity which has been a blessing at our school. Her passion for people is what drives her designs. They are incredibly detailed and thought out. For example, her Engineering Design project Caroline was tasked to design, CAD, and build an innovative take on a outdoor space. Caroline came up not only with a unique design that used architecturial designs and artistic mediums but also was admired by many of her classmates. Caroline does this all under her own initiative and creativity which is a breath of fresh air and becoming more rare in my years of education. Caroline eyes her future endeavors and doesn’t ever let opportunities pass her by without effort. She is beyond motivated and ready to continue her strong resume. Some of the Engineering Concepts Frannie has specialized in are as follows: ● CAD- Computer Aided Design in the following software: OnShape, Fusion 360, Sketchup ● Industrial Design process as well as technical proposals for designs. ● 3D Printing and fabricating. ● Dimensioning in Architecture terms and settings. She quickly learned to manage her time, work in group situations under strict deadlines and to recognize the importance of a strong work ethic, persistence, and intellectual integrity. Caroline has made me proud, as her teacher, and I am positive that she would be a worthy selection for your scholarship. Sincerely, Thomas Clay McElheny North Oconee High School Engineering Instructor
