Dear Scholarship Committee, It is my great pleasure to recommend Ms. Jordan Troupe to receive the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. I have known Ms. Troupe since she was in the 7th grade when she was a student in my middle school life science class. Even at that young age, she was articulate, insightful, and mature beyond her years. Later, during her 11th grade year, she was a top student in my Advanced Placement Biology. She is a remarkable young woman and it has been a privilege to know her and to teach her. During that time, I enjoyed watching her grow up. She became a fixture at our school—involved in many aspects of student life. Her bright smile and infectious personality were present and out-front at many school functions and activities. An accomplished actress, Ms. Troupe appeared on stage many times. It was in that context that I realized that she is not only creative and talented, but driven, disciplined, and conscientious. She was a student leader for many school productions and I watched her approach stressful situations with grace and poise. Ms. Troupe is extremely intelligent and courageous. She is a creative and conceptual thinker, which is evident in her excellent speaking and writing skills. During the course of Advanced Placement Biology, she jumped right into the difficult subject matter and developed a shrewd understanding of the complex biological and chemical concepts. She brought insights to our discussions that were absolutely inspired. She has a gift for critical thinking and drawing conclusions among complex and advanced concepts. Not only did she master the content of the Advanced Placement Biology course, she became one of those students—one of the ones that got it, and that the other students turned to for help. I was thrilled when Ms. Troupe expressed an interest in engineering. I believe she has a wonderful combination of attributes—she has scientific aptitude and artistic creativity. Having grown up in a fine arts school, she understands the necessity and benefit of hard work and practice. I believe that she is an extraordinary young woman. Sincerely, Faith Wittke Science Department Davidson Fine Arts School Augusta, Georgia 30901
