August 28, 2020 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter of recommendation for Ian Kalei Vazquez-Narvaez for a Georgia Engineering Foundation scholarship. Ian is a graduate of Effingham County High School and attended the Effingham County STEM Program which is located at Effingham College and Career Academy. I have known Ian for the past four years and worked with him as the Instructional Supervisor of the STEM program. Ian is a hardworking and very motivated student. He strives to do his best and pushes himself. Ian’s course load was rigorous. He has worked to balance his classes between Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment. He strives to get the most out of what is offered in the STEM program. When faced with difficult courses, he has not given up; he has not complained. In addition to working diligently on his academics, Ian was actively involved in extracurricular activities. He was an active member the Technology Student Association and Science Olympiad. He also attended the Savannah Engineering Academy summer camp. While balancing his academic and social life, he found time to work part-time. He is an active member of his church. He attended a mission trip to Ecuador. He worked last summer for the Savannah National Wildlife Refuge. Even doing all of this he maintained honor roll status. Ian is a wonderful young man who is dedicated to furthering his education. He is friendly, hardworking, and has a great work ethic and attitude. He is an excellent role model for other students. I write this letter of recommendation for Ian, knowing that he would be a great candidate. Sincerely, Kathy D. Pevey, Ed.D. Assistant Principal
