To Whom It May Concern, Uddhav Swami has asked me to write a recommendation letter for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. It is my honor to recommend Uddhav for this scholarship. Uddhav was a student in my AP Computer Science Principles course during the 2018 - 19 school year and was in my AP Computer Science A in the 2019-20 school year. Uddhav tackles both his computer science work and school work in general with enthusiasm and energy. Not only does he grasp the fundamentals of our coding languages, his problem-solving abilities and attention to quite strong. Those two skills along with his work ethic make him a good programmer. Uddhav also has a natural curiosity and the attitude of independent learning that make him help him be successful. He will not give up on a challenging task. When faced with a complex problem, he will often seek new and creative ways to solve the problem. By doing this, he facilitates a higher level of learning than a passive student would achieve. In the two years that I had Uddhav in class, I never questioned his integrity, his work ethic or his passion for technology. I enjoyed having Uddhav in class and he most definitely has the tools he needs to be successful in college. One of the most difficult skills for a beginning programmer to master is that of time management. New programmers do not know how long individual programming tasks can take and therefore, do not have a good frame of reference for knowing when to start an assignment. Students who leave assignments to the last minute often find themselves unable to complete the task by the given due date. Uddhav approaches his time management tasks with surprising maturity. He rarely turns in a late assignment. Outside of my classroom, Uddhav was an active member of our marching band and was section leader for his instrument. Uddhav has a kind and gentle personality that makes him a natural leader and is a role model for younger students. An impressive accomplishment is that Uddhav has recently earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest and most prestigious rank, with the Boy Scouts of America organization. It is my honor to recommend Uddhav for this scholarship. Uddhav has the talent, skills and mindset to excel in college and he has a genuinely kind and giving personality. He is most definitely a student that I miss seeing each day. Sincerely, Pamela Whitlock AP Computer Science Instructor 2019 Fulton County Teacher of the Year Chattahoochee High School 470-254-7600 whitlock@fultonschools.org
