August 26, 2020 To Whom It May Concern: Re: Rosalba Mazzotta I would like to take this opportunity to recommend Rosalba Mazzotta to your program. I have had the pleasure of instructing Rosalba during her junior year in a course entitled History of the Americas, as well as in her abbreviated senior year in Higher Level Economics as a part of the International Baccalaureate program. In classrooms comprised of excellent student achievers, Rosalba has stood out among her peers. Rosalba continually impressed throughout these courses, especially with her ability to weave knowledge obtained outside the courses into the classroom. She was consistently prepared for class and always was current on world and domestic affairs. In addition, Rosalba was an exemplary student in the face of challenging circumstances last year. Despite knowing that her grade could not be affected negatively, she was consistent in her preparation and participation in both class and assignments. Rosalba has also made the decision to complete the rigorous and challenging IB Diploma program. This process involves significant educational requirements, including a 4000 word extended essay as well as a culminating course called Theory of Knowledge where the students are asked to synthesize their learning from all their subject areas. As a testament to her maturity, the decision to enter this program was made by Rosalba as an 8th grader. This was a considered and measured choice that demonstrated a commitment to learning and education that few can match. This has manifested in a GPA of 4.583. Rosalba has been a member of several academic and activity organizations at Campbell including French Honors Society, National Honors Society, the Sailing, Debate, and Rocketry Clubs. I also had the opportunity to be the sponsor of a club in which she has been a member for 4 years, Model United Nations. She has been a model participant, always prepared, always ready and she earned Outstanding Delegate Awards in 2018 and 2019 to show evidence of this. She was also a gold medalist at the National French Competition as well as a member of the winning debate team at the Lafayette Debates sponsored by the French Consulate. I can also remember the very first time I met Rosalba. It was at an open house for the IB magnet program. She was in a classroom listening to a presentation I was giving about the program and the ways in which we enjoy discussing current events and the promotion of multiple perspectives and lenses that the program supports. She jumped right in to engage in the discussion, a confident and bold choice for a young woman in 8th grade, in front of a room full of other prospective students, parents, and her future teachers. She made a lasting impression, not only with her boldness which I appreciated, but with the thoughtful content of her discussion. Her enthusiasm, commitment to excellence, and motivation to succeed are a model for all students. Rosalba Mazzotta would be an excellent addition to your program. I recommend her enthusiastically and without reservation. Sincerely, Christopher P. Gagnier Social Studies Department Campbell High School Smyrna, GA
