Angela Lang Castro (acastro@paulding.k12.ga.us)

To Whom It May Concern: My name is Angela Castro. I am a teacher at Paulding County High School. I teach Honors Spanish 2, Honors Spanish 3, Honors Spanish 4 and AP Spanish. I am writing this reference at the request of Cole Vaughn. Cole is applying for your Scholarship. I have known him for number of years in my capacity as a teacher at Paulding County High School. Cole was a student in my Honors Spanish 3, and AP Spanish courses. His work ethic and persistence have led to Cole maintaining outstanding grades all semester. Cole has many strengths that make him an exceptional student. He is an extremely hard-working and self-motivating student. He has an intrinsic desire to constantly learn new things and strives for excellence in each new thing he undertakes. During the courses, Cole has consistently been willing to challenge himself to succeed at each new task and concept; and maintained a spectacular attitude for learning as well as for helping others to learn, demonstrating a high degree of patience and compassion for his classmates. He also has demonstrated a deep global understanding of many topics, beyond the superficial understanding of many of his peers. He has demonstrated this in many tasks requiring critical thinking on multiple projects, essays, assignments, and discussions. These tasks are where Cole transcends the norms and truly demonstrates his potential. Cole has been very active in a number of clubs, organizations, and Honor Societies, growing in his leadership abilities by taking on various officer roles. He has also been an active volunteer in the community, serving at the elementary schools and with the players of Paulding trailblazers, a special needs sports program. In his time at PCHS, he has won various awards for academic excellence, including 1st place at Regional and State Science and Engineering fairs, awards for science research, AP Scholar, FBLA Qualifications and several scholarships. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Cole Vaughn for this scholarship. I believe that his performance in my class, the diligence I have seen him display towards all of his classes, and his dedication to serving the community are a definite indicator of how he will perform in a university setting, and beyond. He will be a positive addition to any program. If you need additional information, please contact me at acastro@paulding.k12.ga.us or by phone at (770) 443-8008 ext 31220 Sincerely, Angela F. Castro
