To whom it may concern: It is my great pleasure to recommend Kwame Osei-Tutu for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kwame during his first semester at the University of Georgia. Kwame was selected to participate in the second cohort of a scholarship program at the University of Georgia, the First Year Scholars Program. As a member of the second cohort of scholars, Kwame has demonstrated strong leadership skills, worked cohesively in teams, presented quality communication skills, and learned to engage in the College of Engineering community. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. Kwame’s interdisciplinary approach to his education demonstrates his commitment to excellence and a desire to become an impactful professional in the future. Kwame takes a proactive approach to assignments and participation in class. As part of the program, Kwame serves as a representative for underrepresented students pursuing engineering. This commitment to service and leadership does not go unnoticed. In addition to his leadership in the First Year Scholars Program, Kwame joined the University of Georgia with an impressive list of relevant engineering activities. As a student at the Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology (GSMST) Kwame led an effort to showcase his school including a delegation of over 200 mentors for prospective students. He also worked as a program assistant for Code Ninjas, walking students through a multitude of program languages. Kwame also served as a civil engineering intern for Travis Pruitt & Associates as a high school student where he created design plans, utilized AutoCAD & Civil 3D, and presented to senior-level employees at the engineering firm. Kwame’s experience prior to his collegiate career parallels that of many of our upper-level engineering students. He is consistently pursuing opportunities to advance his professional and academic skills. This is evidenced in his participation in the Peach State LSAMP, a summer bridge program and scholar program aimed at early exposure to research opportunities in STEM and working with faculty at UGA. Kwame Osei-Tutu would serve as a valuable representative for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship would enable him to continue his mission of pursuing excellence in engineering with a mindset of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. I recommend him for this scholarship opportunity with the highest support. Kwame will be a great representative and steward of the University of Georgia and any organization he participates in. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need additional information. Sincerely, Amber Amber Juncker Director, Engagement & Recruitment College of Engineering 1156D Driftmier Engineering Center Athens, GA 30602 706-542-2744
