To whom it may concern: It is my great pleasure to recommend Abraham Kibret for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Abraham during his first semester at the University of Georgia. Abraham was selected to participate in the second cohort of a scholarship program at the University of Georgia, the First Year Scholars Program. As a member of the second cohort of scholars, Abraham has demonstrated strong leadership skills, worked cohesively in teams, presented quality communication skills, and learned to engage in the College of Engineering community. He is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Systems Engineering. Abraham gained experience with Java Script during his high school career and continues to build on this knowledge in his current program. Abraham takes a proactive approach to assignments and participation in class. As part of the program, Abraham serves as a representative for underrepresented students pursuing engineering. This commitment to service and leadership does not go unnoticed. In addition to his leadership in the First Year Scholars Program, Abraham has taken the initiative to get involved in student clubs and organizations during his first semester. He is a member of the Ethiopian Eritrean Student Association, participating in bi-weekly meetings and working to celebrate cultural holidays to create a more inclusive and welcoming campus. Abraham balances this participation with a rigorous curriculum. As a student-athlete in high school, Abraham came to UGA well-prepared to balance extracurricular activities and academics. As a first-year student, we encourage students to model healthy time management skills as Abraham does. We look forward to Abraham’s continued success during his time at UGA and know that a scholarship such as GEF would enable him to further his breadth of impact on the college community and beyond. Abraham Kibret would serve as a valuable representative for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. The scholarship would enable him to continue his mission of pursuing excellence in engineering with a mindset of justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. I recommend him for this scholarship opportunity with the highest support. Abraham will be a great representative and steward of the University of Georgia and any organization he participates in. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you need additional information. Sincerely, Amber Amber Juncker Director, Engagement & Recruitment College of Engineering 1156D Driftmier Engineering Center Athens, GA 30602 706-542-2744
