It is my pleasure to recommend Tyler Hsu for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. I am a teacher at North Gwinnett High School where I came to know Tyler when he enrolled in my Advanced Placement Chemistry class during his sophomore year. I would rank him in the top 10% of students that I have taught in the past twenty-four years in respect to his determination, intelligence, and desire to succeed. In class, Tyler was a well-disciplined, industrious student with a pleasant personality. His written work was both clear and concise, and interesting to read. He demonstrated his oral articulateness in the discussion sessions that are an integral part of the course. Tyler was highly proficient in applying the course material to analyze problems and conduct lab experiments to prove his theories. He always explained his methods very concisely and gave supporting evidence that was both clear and scientifically sound. He went well beyond the course requirements in the quantity and quality of his work. Throughout the course, Tyler demonstrated great perseverance and initiative. He was not only interested in and motivated to learn the material but put great work into assimilating it into his own experiences and developing his own ideas about each topic that we discussed. My class consists of various opportunities for students to work collaboratively. In every instance, Tyler demonstrated good team working skills in group lab assignments by establishing himself as a leader and mentor to his classmates. I taught Tyler during the pandemic. He was an in-person student while majority of my class were digital learners. This was not an ideal learning environment, but Tyler showed genuine interest in the content by always volunteering first to answer a question or contribute to class discussions. While he was a great contributor to my classroom environment, Tyler also played an integral role in the North Gwinnett Theater Program. He invited me to all his performances, and I was able to attend quite a few. I was impressed with Tyler’s talent and passion for the performing arts. Being able to see Tyler thrive in a different atmosphere was just further confirmation of his dedication and confidence in all of his endeavors. Tyler is highly motivated and ambitious. He works diligently to maintain a high-grade point average while taking advanced classes so that he will be able to achieve his future goals in biochemical engineering. I believe that Tyler will achieve this goal because of his integrity, intelligence, drive, and desire to accomplish what he sets out to do. Tyler is the kind of young leader that our school is proud to produce, and I highly recommend him for this scholarship. He will prove to be a valuable representative and worthy recipient. If I can be of any further assistance, or provide you with any further information, please do not hesitate to contact
