To Whom it May Concern, I am delighted to submit this recommendation on behalf of Marin Shappert. She is an impressive young woman with unique attributes that set her apart from other candidates. In my teaching experience there are a few students who are unlike any others. Students who transform the dynamic of the classroom with their inquisitive nature and introspective mind. I can honestly remark that Marin is a top-notch young woman. What sets her apart from other high achieving students is the depth of knowledge. She understands the true mastery of content comes from investigation and reflection. The classroom serves as a catalyst toward higher ideas. There is a beauty in this as it spurs her interaction in class. She is willing to ask questions and drive the dialogue to an extraordinary level. She is truly a visionary. Despite having the option to learn online her junior year, Marin decided to attend school in-person. I am very glad she did; I got to see her excel firsthand. We shared many great conversations about psychological topics of her interest. It exposed her true nature, one that is empathetic and genuine. Marin is an exquisite young woman. She carries herself with a maturity that I do not normally witness in students. She places a large value on her education. Her dedication in the classroom serves as an example for those around her. She is aware of the fortunate life experiences she has had and shows deep appreciation her for family and community. I can say Marin genuinely enjoys learning and it was highly evident in adoration of the class. For Marin, the letter grade earned is a nice reward, but not her driving motive. She seeks education in which will help her do good for others. Additionally, Marin pursues leadership to help others, not herself. Being a member of Chick-fil-a’s Leadership Academy as well as North Gwinnett Student Leadership Team has awoken the skills she innately possesses to be an amazing leader. She is enthused to lead Girl Up, a United Nations sponsored club that seeks to educate people on the lives of girls around the world and places an emphasis on the importance of helping women and girls worldwide. While this is a visible role, she also inspires others by her helpfulness to all. When someone is in a tight situation, Marin will find a way to help ensure the success of others. I undoubtedly believe in Marin’s future success. Her motive for pursuing higher education is purely intrinsic; she wants to expand her knowledge. Campus life provides her additional opportunities to demonstrate her passion for women’s rights as well as climate change. She views clubs and organizations as a stimulus for elevating cultural conversations in hopes of making the world a more unified place. Sincerely, Erin Mitchell AP Psychology North Gwinnett High School erin.mitchell@gcpsk12.org
