I have known Dan for the past 4 years as he was the past President of our schools FIRST Robotics Team #4701 and as he has taken the following Project Lead The Way courses which I teach; Principals of Engineering (POE), Digital Electronics (DE) and Engineering Design and Development (EDD) at H.V. Jenkins High School in Savannah, GA. As his teacher and FIRST robotics coach, I have had an opportunity to observe Dan’s participation and interaction in our classes and on our robotics team to evaluate the student's knowledge of our engineering subject STEM areas. I would rate the student's overall performance in these subjects and team responsibilities as above average, as he consistently does more then what expected of him. This is evidenced by his A/B average in these classes and attendance/participation on the robotics team. He shows great attention to detail and very good problem-solving skills. One example that stands out was his leadership abilities as Safety Captain on our robotics team. He started by giving safety lessons and instilling a culture of safe practices to our team, then scheduled, and gave Safety Seminars to other participating teams and Safety Captains during district and regional events. With his efforts, I believe he is the reason our team won the 2020 Peachtree District Safety Award. He was also awarded a Safety Captain Honorable Mention at the 2022 Peachtree State Championship event. I would be more than glad to recommend Dan Ha for the Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarship. Thomas Maty (PLTW Engineering Instructor / FIRST Robotics Coach)
