To Whom It May Concern: I am very pleased to write a recommendation letter for Hannah Shin in respect for consideration to your scholarship program. Hannah Shin is one of my favorite students that I teach this past year and she has one of the best attitudes of any student that I teach. Her smile and positive demeaner can be seen on a daily basis throughout the hallways of Lambert High School. She is intelligent, affable, industrious, funny, and sensitive. The positive descriptions of Hannah would be inadequate, for no words can paint an accurate picture of this outstanding student. I have had the pleasure of knowing Hannah since the summer of 2019. In my twenty-seven years of teaching I have been impressed with few students as much as Hannah, who has earned my highest praise and commendations. I currently teach her as a senior in my Advanced Placement Literature class where we read works in depth such as Hamlet, As I Lay Dying, and The Poisonwood Bible. As her literature teacher the first thing that impressed me about Hannah was her scrupulous attention to what we are studying in literature – evidence from a body biography activity for The Poisonwood Bible included her being the collaborative team lead. She handed out the assignments, supplemented material she thought lacking and found evidence to support their AP prompt they used during their presentation – making sure everyone was prepared. Her presentations are always of the highest caliber and help the rest of the students in the class prepare for assessments. Hannah always shows how perceptive she is through her thoughtful literary analysis. Hannah’s well-roundedness is one of her most impressive qualities. Lambert is a large school with over 3000 students, and it is apparent that Hannah is respected and looked up to by both her peers and by the younger students. Hannah has unselfishly devoted countless hours to helping students and staff alike. Hannah amazes me with her dedication to the community through her service projects and her eagerness to “heal the world”. Her greatest quality, however, is her enthusiasm. Hannah has never ending vivaciousness which influences the students in her classes with a desire to learn and succeed. I believe that the greatest students are those that the teacher can learn from; if so, Hannah is one of the best I have ever taught. Hannah Shin is a gem. Without a doubt, she is the perfect candidate for your scholarship program. As such, I give her my highest recommendation without reservation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at (770) 356-4840. We have been blessed by her genuine commitment and love for Lambert High School. Respectfully, Erik W.
