Dear Scholarship Committee: I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Julian Bolanos as a friend of the family for over 10 years now. He has always shown brilliance in and out of academics since he and my son were small children. I strongly recommend him for the Engineering scholarship. I’m very delighted to highlight one of Julian’s contributions outside of school. Julian was one of the top team members of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Student of the Year Campaign in 2020. This campaign is an intense 7 week competitive program which involves hundreds of students nationwide fundraising to help fund research to advance lifesaving treatment and support for blood cancer patients. Julian’s team raised over $99,000.00 for cancer cures. This accomplishment was particularly outstanding given the sudden impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made fundraising even more challenging. Julian employed creative thinking skills, positive relationship building and goal setting to raise his individual monetary goal as well as exceed the team’s monetary goal by tens of thousands of dollars. While Julian has already made a significant impact in his local community, as well as for cancer patients, I believe he will continue to show compassion and leadership in future endeavors. I am wholeheartedly certain that Julian will continue with his future studies with the same diligence and fortitude as he did with the SOY campaign for LLS. Because of his proven merits, I highly recommend Julian Bolanos for the Engineering scholarship. He will prove to be an invaluable student at the University of Georgia. Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact me regarding Julian’s character and accomplishments at (404) 513-6644. Yours sincerely, Michelle Cripe (404) 513-6644
