Neil Haddad (Neil.Haddad@fmr.com)

I am submitting a recommendation on behalf of Justin Effendi. I am a Senior Manager of Software Engineering for Fidelity Investments and have been with the company for over 20 years. At Fidelity Investments I partner with our University Talent Team to host interns and onboard to the team for 10 weeks. I was selected to host Justin during the most recent Summer cycle for internships. My first impression of Justin was very positive. Starting with onboarding for his internship, Justin was proactive in confirming his availability for our initial meet and greet and attended on time. Justin ensured timely communication to confirm receipt of equipment and first week schedule which was helpful to ensure a successful start. I observed Justin's active participation in conversations and meetings, and he was not afraid to ask questions or provide his thoughts and ideas. For example, he attended a Show and Tell to demonstrate functioning software where he asked for some clarifying information. There was a large audience which included executive leadership at the Show and Tell and Justin was not intimidated at all. Also, at my staff meetings, Justin consistently provided feedback or input and it was greatly appreciated. During his internship I received unsolicited feedback from team members in their 1-1s mentioning how Justin was also active in the Scrum events and willing to learn and take on responsibility to contribute to the team. They have also mentioned Justin picked up new technical skills and concepts very quickly and they enjoy working with him. Justin also took advantage of opportunities the internship provided such as joining the Fidelity Young Professional Network, resume writing assistance, and requesting/scheduling time to discuss feedback on his performance. I have managed many teams and associates along with interviewing hundreds of candidates over the years, I have a good sense of talent and Justin certainly qualifies. His dedication, commitment, and focus to learning, reflect his desire to continually improve and increase the impact of his contributions. Throughout his internship Justin was flexible to learn all aspects of development for our mobile investing application including Unit testing and Automation and he was successful. He settled into the team and by the end of his 10-week internship many folks thought he was a permanent member of the team. Justin has a very bright future; his curiosity and consistency will build trust and confidence and lead to great things for him. Justin has great potential, and it was a privilege to be a small part of his journey. Thank you for your time and consideration of Justin.
