Ashley Nickell (anickell@forsyth.k12.ga.us)

I am writing in recommendation of Mr. Julian Bolanos for admissions consideration. I had the pleasure of teaching Julian in American literature in his junior year. During this time, I found him to be an involved, and inquisitive student, with a strong commitment to his community. Julian has never been afraid to share his opinion and used this skill to help foster and continue class discussions. He always was looking to find deeper meaning and analyze where most student’s do not. Julian’s nature enables him to ask questions of others and see multiple points of view on a topic. This questioning ability especially helped him to improve his writing in my class as he always followed up to find out where he showed weakness and sought out advice on how to best improve. Outside of scholastics, Julian has been a member of the DECA team and has shown amazing dedication to his team and international competition partner. Julian has a great deal of passion for being one of the best in the team events and practices has allowed for him to highlight his innate leadership abilities and score in the top twenty percent in international competition. His work ethic is outstanding. Julian has a strong desire to strive in all positions. In doing this Julian was involved in numerous sports teams and volunteered with his school clubs. Both these positions allow him to be a pillar of leadership with his peers and the community. Julian handles work and school elegantly and was an exemplar among his peers. Even in high school his drive and dedication towards his future and career shown through. Julian’s scholastic and extracurricular activities all show his commitment to getting things right, helping others, and teaching and learning. He is truly an active, engaged student and committed member of his community. Sincerely, Ashley H. Nickell English Teacher South Forsyth High School
