September 17th, 2020 998 Cole Drive Lilburn, GA 30047 To Whom It May Concern: I wish to recommend Derrick Brown Jr. for one of your Georgia Engineering Foundation Scholarships. As Derrick’s Honors US History teacher and football coach at Parkview High School, I have worked closely with him for the past 4 years, and have developed a great deal of respect for this remarkable young man during that time. Derrick demonstrated tremendous effort throughout the year I taught him, and always brought determination and respect to my classroom. He constantly worked to achieve the highest marks possible. He never shied away from challenges in the classroom or within his life to achieve success. Throughout his time at Parkview, he developed into a well-rounded young man. He is not only a scholastic success, but he also is an integral part of the community here at Parkview. He was a member of the football and basketball teams, and served in our character outreach program NG3 as well. Derrick is a one of a kind young man, not only blessed with knowledge and work ethic, but a dynamic personality as well. He quickly gains the respect and admiration of his fellow peers and the faculty here at Parkview High School. Personally, Derrick is a young man who I truly enjoyed not only teaching, but getting to know and see grow as a person as well. He is a hard worker, and a very well rounded individual. He has a sensational sense of humor and self- worth. He is a strong advocate for himself and others in the classroom. He is a young man that made anyone in the hallways of Parkview feel welcomed and appreciated. I have no doubt in my mind that Derrick will continue to thrive and bring others along no matter where he goes in life. I cannot wait to watch him continue on his journey. He would be an asset and add value in multiple capacities within the Mechanical Engineering Program at Georgia Southern. I highly recommend Derrick to you. He is a worthy candidate for your investment. Sincerely, Mr. Jacob Gunter Parkview High School
