Dr. C.B. Gambrell, Jr. P.E. was the Dean Emeritus of the School of Engineering at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia where he was the founding Dean in 1985. From employing the staff and formulating the academic programs to designing their laboratories and recruiting students, Dr. Gambrell inspired excellence in both the academic and engineering professions. During the same time period prior to 1995, he also served as the Director of the Mercer Engineering Research Center. Dr. Gambrell served on the faculty of several universities, held five advanced degrees, was a registered engineer in four states and served three Secretaries of the U.S. Army as Scientific Consultant. C.B. served as GSPE President 1994-95, was a Fellow of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, and a prolific writer. The C.B. and Olive Gambrell Fund and the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers team offer the C.B. and Olive Gambrell/GSPE Scholarship in memory of Dr. Gambrell’s incredible contribution to his field and his commitment to its future growth.
