Date: August 23, 2024 From: Connie High, Math Department Chair Baconton Community Charter School Re: Letter of Recommendation for Jack Ly Dear Scholarship Committee: I am writing this letter to wholeheartedly recommend Jack Ly for any scholarship in which he qualifies. I have known Jack for at least 13 years as we attended the same church. I taught children’s church and youth group where Jack was a faithful participant. In Jack’s high school years, I was one of Jack’s math teachers in school. Knowing him in the community sector and in the education sector, I can attest to Jack’s intelligence, his desire to learn, and his ability to work as a team player. Jack has consistently demonstrated a genuine passion for education and an unwavering commitment to his academic pursuits. As both a student and a leader at our school, Jack exhibits exceptional qualities that distinguish him as a promising future engineer. He consistently seeks opportunities to engage with diverse learning experiences, both inside and outside the classroom. As a teacher/instructor/professor for the past 30 years in the areas of secondary and college mathematics, I can attest to his intelligence, desire to learn, and his ability to work as a group member. When working with groups, Jack does not become a dictator, expecting every member to listen to only what he says just because of his superior intelligence; however, he understands that everyone has something to contribute, and much can be learned from every member of a group. Jack has an inclusive personality and has a true gift for including others into his circle. One of Jack’s outstanding attributes is his innate ability to connect with students as well as adults, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. He possesses excellent communication skills, which are essential in being a successful part of a team, and his dedication to creating a supportive atmosphere is truly commendable. I have received numerous positive feedback from students, parents, and fellow educators about Jack’s impactful contributions to our school and our community. In my 30 years of teaching higher levels of mathematics, Jack Ly is the brightest student that I have had the honor of teaching. He is never satisfied with the status quo and is intrinsically motivated. He has varied interests and desires to succeed. He was raised by a single mother who has struggled financially but provided a home full of warmth and love that allowed her two children to mature and excel. Jack can be anything he desires to be and can succeed at any university he chooses to attend. Any school of higher learning would be lucky to have this young man. I hold Jack Ly in the highest esteem and recommend him for all scholarships available to him. His combination of academic achievement, community involvement and personal character make Jack an ideal candidate. I am certain that Jack is going to continue to do great and creative things in his future. He is talented, caring, intuitive, dedicated, and focused in his pursuits. Jack is truly a stand-out individual who will impress everyone he meets. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions at chigh@bccsblazers.org. Sincerely, Connie High, Chair Mathematics Department Baconton Community Charter School
