Hello, I had the privilege to mentor Kimani Coates during a 6 week internship program during the summer of 2021. In partnership with the program SMASH rising, Kimani and a cohort of 5 other students, worked on a small project at Zymergen. Zymergen is a synthetic biology company and our data workflows are complex. During the short period of time Kimani and they team worked with me, they gained deep insight into our challenge and presented a focused solution to the problem. Kimani was great at asking follow up questions and seeking clarity for himself and the team. I would happily have him back for a full internship in the future and think any program would be lucky to have him. Matthew Batterton
