John Prien Jr., PE, JD, CAE graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Nebraska with a degree in Civil Engineering and a Juris Doctor of Law. He served in the US Army, Air Force Reserve and Navy Reserve where he built ICBM silos, strategic bomber airfields and base housing. After obtaining his law degree and passing the bar he worked in contract law during the early years of the US space program at Cape Canaveral, FL. He is a past executive director of GSPE as well as a past president and founding member of GEF. He was an active member and officer in ASCE, SAME and NSPE and was named a fellow in each of these three organizations. He has always worked tirelessly to advance the profession of Engineering and to provide opportunities and scholarships for future engineers in the State of Georgia.
